More Ruger 22/45 Grip Frame Questions
I recently acquired a threaded Ruger MK III 22/45 upper receiver/barrel. Valuable lesson learned, always ask if parts are for standard MK's and not the 22/45. I have two MK II's (MK10 and target slab side). I have heard that the MK II or III frame can be "fitted" to the 22/45 upper, but I am not wanting to go that direction and risk poor fit on the MK's that I have. So long story short, I am either looking for a used MK III 22/45 grip frame assembly or going to purchase the VC target grip frame. Anybody know where there might be a 22/45 grip frame for sale (I have been keeping an eye on rimfire central)? Or, does anyone have experience with the Volquartsen target frame?
Just got a black Volquartsen VC grip frame Friday from Brownell's, as I didn't want a pretty colored frame from Rimfire Central. I'm waiting on Volquartsen to ship an LLV upper and it appears I may be in for a long wait as they just informed me that the barrel blanks aren't even in from Germany.
To answer your question, you should not have any problem fitting Volquartsen's lower with your upper as it seems to be of great quality. Just remember, the Volquartsen lower is going to require Ruger MKIII magazines. Good luck.
